Hi, there~~I have a new Roku Premiere. My tv is not a Smart TV and has two HDMI ports. One of the ports is where my Dish satellite receiver plugs in (and is also connected to a sound bar).
When I plug my Roku into the other HDMI port I get picture, but no sound. The only way I can get sound is if I unplug the Dish HDMI and plug the Roku in there. This is a bit cumbersome as you can imagine.
Is there any way I can get sound to my Roku without having to keep plugging and unplugging it into the Dish Network HDMI port? Or without buying a new tv, haha? I was hoping to keep this tv until my Dish contract is up in December. Thanks in advance!
If you do buy a new TV, and get a Roku TV, problem is really solved.
In the meantime, an HDMI switch would probably be the solution you're looking for. Couple of things, though. Some automatically switch. That could be problematic with two devices that are always on. You'll want to manually switch between them, so ensure you can do that. Those are usually cheaper anyway.

DBDukes, thank you for that suggestion! I see I can get them with a manual toggle and I will try that...if that doesn't work I'll be shopping for a new tv. Thank you!
If you plug your Dish receiver into the "silent" HDMI port, do you get sound? If not, it pretty well points to the TV's port being the problem, not the devices connected to it.
Does the TV have any sort of sound settings you can tweak when trying to view that port (Dolby on/off, etc.)?
