in my main settings and in the Spectrum app audio guide is turned off but when I watch shows it keeps telling me what the characters are doing. I’ve signed out of spectrum and restarted my roku but nothing is helping. I can’t delete the app or else I won’t be able to redownload it. Anyone know how to fix this?
That's part of the audio track. You have to switch to a different audio track. I don't use the Spectrum channel/app, so I don't know how to do that, but it's usually selected either using the * button on your remote or a selection you make before you start the video.
When I press the * the audio track option is grey and says “default” and won’t let me change it. Weird
There have been plenty of complaints about the Roku Media Player and no longer being able to change the audio track - could be related. See if there's any option to select the audio track before you start playing a video.

It's not clear to me whether this is a function of your Spectrum app, or the individual channel. Either way, some channels wrote their channel apps to use their own controls rather than the default ones provided by the Roku interface.
See if you can find a way to access the selection of audio tracks via some other means. One common way used by some channels is via the up and/or down cursor keys to reveal other icons you can then navigate to and click on. Another might be via a "Settings", "Options", or similar link in their interface.
Yes I understand your confusion that you shared here I also faced the similar type of issue three months ago but you can take guidance from here.
