Re: Roku Ultra 4800x gives me HDCP errors.

I have precisely no problem with 4K/HDR/Dolby Vision when I use the identical (actually the same) cables and AV receiver with the Amazon box.  HDMI connectors and outlets are immaculate.  If you're not having a problem, it's because you're lucky, not because Roku doesn't have a problem.  Also, your explanation doesn't address the same error manifesting with a streaming stick which uses no HDMI cables.

Re: Daily HDCP Error Since Firmware 11 Update

"It’s become just childish foot stomping. If you can get a child to read my earlier comments you’d discover I’ve complained too, but the foot stomping is getting very old. Just keep wailing like it’s gonna make them jump…"

Now tell me that's not whining about someone else's whining.

Re: Roku Ultra 4800x gives me HDCP errors.

Yes, it does actually because IT IS NOT A HARDWARE OR CABLE ISSUE OR AN HDMI port issue, it is firmware.

Go reconnect your rabbit ears…

So, while you're trying to belittle my assessment, you are now adamantly agreeing with me, while throwing in a dig while you're at it.  Your wisdom befuddles me.

Re: Roku Ultra 4800x gives me HDCP errors.

Your “assessment” isn’t….what don’t you understand about the fact that it’s not an error actually related to your device or cable or hdmi ports (despite what the error says) and that it is a firmware issue? Asserting that because it happened to your 4800 which connects via cable implies something different is just simply incorrect.

Re: Roku Ultra 4800x gives me HDCP errors.

My ENTIRE approach to this discussion is that it's not hardware.  I described all the hardware involved to validate that it can't possibly hardware related.  The other point I made is that a lot of Roku devices malfunction under the same circumstances that other devices do not.  As far as I can tell, you're arguing with your own assumptions.

uh huh…your last comment makes perfect sense reflecting on the above…the last sentence in particular…

Re: Roku Ultra 4800x gives me HDCP errors.

I think I mis-attributed something someone said to you.  I apologize.  However, you'd need to go back to earlier postings of mine, when I was simply trying to establish that Roku had a problem, but I didn't speculate whether it was hardware or software.  All I really wanted to do is remove all of Roku's pseudo-explanations. After all, a lot of devices glitch out when they reach a certain temperature, or are required to process high amounts of data.  I think there might be something to that as well, as I upgraded my internet today, and the error started appearing every 30 minutes or so.  So, I switched back to the box you hate, and still no problems, and the picture was even better.

Re: Roku Ultra 4800x gives me HDCP errors.

Obviously other streaming devices won’t have the issue the Roku is having because the issue is due to something faulty in the Roku firmware. Again, from everything I’ve seen and others have reported, this is directly related to the 11.x firmware. It’s pointless to fiddle with cables or switch HDMI ports or try to blow the ports out with air, it’s not a hardware issue. PS: Amazon Firesticks and every other streaming device, and pretty much every other IoT device has and will have firmware issues after major updates. Sometimes they’re far less apparent than the two issues we’re dealing with from this update, the lost audio on the Ultra and the HDCP error on the streaming sticks. It will get fixed.

I guess I'm fortunate.  I've had no issues after updates to my "other device."
