My mother's Roku is occasionally displaying a reduced video size. Sometimes it only shows a partial reduced video picture. I don't believe she's doing anything tricky when the problem occurs. She uses the Roku to stream Amazon Prime, BritBox, and Acorn. This morning it appears to be operating normally but it was also operating normally Thursday morning when we visited her and then started acting up again after we left.
I had her take a picture of the About screen. Here's the information from that screen.
Model: 4800X - Roku Ultra
Serial number: X01000RA2504
Software Version: 10.5.0 - build 4201-C2
Device ID: S02A20CA2504
She still doesn't see the option to downgrade the firmware. Is it possible to get the older firmware version pushed out to her device while the problem is being debugged?
Thanks,
Rod
Rod,
I’m having the exact same problem with my 4800X running 10.5.0 4201-C2. I’m no computer scientist (or maybe I am) but the 4800X and latest software push are turning Ultras into bricks.

My 4800x Ultra was experiencing picture problem after 10.5 update. The home page of the app was fine but once a video started the picture would show only 25% of the picture. The top left 25% would be on screen as if the zoom control was out of whack. The only thing that fixed this was to go to the power setting and turn off the " power off after 20 mins ". Then unplug for a few minutes and reboot. Since doing this the device has worked properly.
Hi everyone,
Thanks for the posts.
If you haven't already, can you please provide us with all of the following information:
-Roku device model, serial number, device ID, and software OS/version (these can all be found in Settings > System > About)
-does this issue occur on a specific channel? if so, what channel and what version/build is the channel (this can be found be selecting the channel on the Home screen and pressing the * button)
-tracker ID when this issue occurs (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times)
-steps to reproduce the issue you are seeing
-photos of what you are experiencing when this issue occurs
-brand, make and model of the TV that you are connecting the device to
Once we have more information, we will be able to pass it along to the appropriate Roku team to investigate further.
Thanks,
Danny

I'm going to give this a try. My concern, though, is how much power will be consumed. Have you noticed a difference with your electric bill?
My Ultra (4800) uses no more than 3.8 Watts while idle and at times it's only 2.8W. At an average US price of 14 cents per kilowatt-hr it would be 38 cents per month without this so called power saving. Once "power saving" kicks in it sits at 2.3 to 2.4W, so you're saving at most 1.5W. Over a month at 14 cents per kilowatt-hr you're saving 15 cents for a device that's idle 24 hours a day. I don't think you're going to notice unless you have lots of devices or outrageously high electricity prices.
Reno Jim you aren't serious are you? Power savings?
That so called power saving of a Roku device must be viewed as part of energy lost along with other energy devices.
Use a Kill-a-Watt device and see how much energy your smart tv is using, or your stereo, dish washer, washing machine, dryer, toaster, light dimmers, etc.., at idle.
All these devices are costing us money and costing us higher energy prices due to all these devices sitting at idle and putting millions of dollars into the companies that are making billions of dollars. We must unplug those devices sitting at idle.

@OldClone85, I have no idea what your little rant is about. Someone asked how much money this new "power saving" featured saved and I gave the answer for my Roku device.
It's a sad day when one believes you are saving money by using the power down features of these devices. Yes, they sit there sucking the money right out of your pocket into the pockets of the power companies. Your electric provider loves guys like you. If you want to gve advice about saving money then tell folks to turn the device office.
