Re: [OS 10.5] Ultra 4800X issues after latest update

Why would you reward Roku with more money after they broke your device? Doing things like that enables this careless behavior

Re: [OS 10.5] Ultra 4800X issues after latest update

I've had my 4800R for about 6 months and have yet to have any problems. An early adopter, I began with the Roku 1, then moved to the 3 which I had for years. Other than slow loading channels like HBO Max or Peacock, it works perfectly routed through my AVR. I'm running the latest 10.5 build without any issues whatsoever.

My You tube TV local channels changed with the new update.  You tube TV still lists the correct local channels, but that is not what I get since the update to Roku.

I'd highly recommend you do this. I purchased a 4670 (?) that was faulty and after getting the RMA # and address shipped it. Be advised it takes them a while to process things though I was sent a brand new 4800R a replacement so I'm pretty happy Smiley Happy

@jontalk

Thanks for the response. I have provided them w/ my info and confirmed that a Warranty Swap is agreeable.  We'll see how it goes.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the posts.

In order to better assist everyone and to make sure we provide the correct troubleshooting, as well as making sure you're posting in the correct thread, if you have not already, can you please provide us the following information:
-Roku device model, serial number, device ID, and software OS/version (these can all be found in Settings > System > About)
-does this issue occur on a specific channel? if so, what channel and what version/build is the channel (this can be found be selecting the channel on the Home screen and pressing the * button)
-tracker ID when this issue occurs (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times)
-steps to reproduce the issue you are seeing

Once we have this information, we will be able to assist you further.

Thanks,

Re: [OS 10.5] Ultra 4800X issues after latest update

Ditched the Ultra

Replaced with ROKU Streaming Stick 4k, works fine. Only $30

This is "Apple disease", with planned obsolesence of products, requiring replacement.

Oh well, ROKU remote is simple and works well.

Re: [OS 10.5] Ultra 4800X issues after latest update

Thank you Roku Employee RokuDanny-R

My problem is just with the screen resolution. This thread seems to be focused on the Ultra 4800X. I have a TV with built in Roku. I don't think it has as many features as the Ultra does. For instance I don't think I can manually adjust the screen resolution outside of some general settings like automatic or normal or zoom.

I have a Walmart onn. 40 Class FHD (1080P) Roku Smart LED TV (100005395) I purchased 2 years ago. I use it primarily as a computer monitor with an HDMI connection. (A wireless connection works but has too much lag when moving my mouse around.) My Windows 10 screen resolution is 1920 x 1080 and the Roku screen resolution is set to automatic.

It has worked great until last night when it automatically upgraded to Software version: 10.5.0 Build: 4201

Now the TV is stuck in a low resolution and I have not been able to find a way to get it back to 1920 x 1080. I thought this was a new problem because my TV just updated last night, but I see that some of us have been wrestling with this for weeks now. I will be watching this thread to see if we can find a solution for this.

Re: [OS 10.5] Ultra 4800X issues after latest update

I'd like to suggest someone at Roku reaches out to HBO since the app hasn't been updated in ages in spite of countless Roku firmware updates. I'm using a 4800R running 10.5 firmware routed through my AVR with a WIRED 100 mbps connection. HBO Max loads and performs like a slug when compared to others. The support team never replies to messages which is why I'm posting this here.

Re: [OS 10.5] Ultra 4800X issues after latest update

Exactly what I told my wife last night after spending 10 hours trying to get our ULTRA to work. ROKU managment and sales probably looked at potential sales of new units for Black Friday and had the faults included with the latest update thinking many people would simply buy new units.

If that is the case, poor judgement on their part. I will "never" buy another ROKU if they do not get this resolved within the next few days. Too many other options out there that from all reviews indicate they are equal to or greater performance than Roku's.
