I just hooked up our new TCL 4k HDR 75inch TV (model 75S435). Verified our internet was working properly and discovered this issue. At first I thought this was app specific, but I now believe it's content based. As you can see in the photos I am getting this sort of video playback on non 4k HDR content. 4K HDR content seems to play fine, Roku interface is fine, audio working, but on standard HD video playback I am getting this issue. Really confused on this one, so hopefully someone has seen this before. I've had many roku devices and tv's, this is my first TCL, and first time ever having an issue. Thank you for any suggestions.
Photos and Video playback distortion on non 4k hdr videos
I have the same issue and never figured it out. Ended up sending the tv back. See my pictures below. Only seems to be with standard HD videos, yet all the content on YouTube is fine. It’s too inconsistent for it to be one app, but I’ve never had this problem on any other Roku device.
I'd say that's a faulty TV and you should return it. You can try a factory reset, but I'd be surprised if it fixed anything.
You could contact TCL and see what they have to say since they're responsible for the hardware. Roku only supplies the software and to me it doesn't appear to be a software problem.
Yeah that’s what we ended up doing. None of the typical solutions seem to fix it. Just a very strange issue I’ve never seen before on a tv. My luck haha.
