Multiple Roku not working at the same time

I believe the Rokus I have are the Express 2 or 3.  Both of them are having playback issues at the same time.  Tons of buffing, dropping wireless connection, delay in loading channel apps.  Youtube and Prime will timeout and not work.  I can't watch anything on either device.  It's been kind of bad over the last week but now, I can't stream for more than 20 minutes if that.

I have no idea what is going on.  I cleared the cache on both devices, shut them down, turned them back on.  Both devices read as having the latest updates as of today.  Call my internet provider and all of my wi-fi devices are working great except the rokus.  They resend my wi-fi signal still no resolution.

I have two devices that won't successfully steam.  I believe I brought both of them back in 2018.

Does anybody know what's happening?

@onehipsistah

Let's start by clarifying which devices you have. Settings > System > About

Provide the model number(s) and Roku software version(s).

Re: Multiple Roku not working at the same time

Yes, by all means report the Roku models and model numbers as @DBDukes suggested, WHENEVER you report problems, as different models have different capabilities and sometimes this affects solutions.

Your symptoms sound like you are not getting good internet connections to your Rokus.

Here's what has worked for me to re-establish my net connection when I've had net connection problems:

  • Restart your router (even if other devices have no problem finding and connecting). Sometimes that's all it takes, if not keep going.
  • Restart the Roku to clear its memory via Settings > System > System restart (for Roku TV it's Settings > System > Power > System restart). Again sometimes that's all it takes, if not keep going.
  • Find and connect to your network via Settings> Network > Set up connection

If that doesn't fix it, try disconnecting the power to your Roku for a few seconds.  When it comes back up, see if you then can set up the network connection.

Re: Multiple Roku not working at the same time

Did all the above.  Nothing works.  Went out and brought a new Roku.  The one that goes for $30 at Lowes.  That one also does not work.  None of them work.

I have Spectrum for internet.  They send a signal to my wifi modem, still does not work.  Constant buffering, won't go 15 minutes without buffering.  Dropping connection.  None of my wifi devices are having any problems with the signal expect the Roku devices.  So broke down and brought Apple TV.  No problem streaming at all with the Apple TV.

I never had any serious connection issues with my Roku devices until about 6 months ago.  I think it has something to do with Spectrum doing something on their end to cause issues with my Roku devices now, I can't think of anything else.

Re: Multiple Roku not working at the same time

There have been reports that changing the DNS servers set in the router from Spectrum's can help.
