The MLB app has gotten a major upgrade - almost like going from a Terminal based interface to a GUI platform. It looks nice and is intuitive and responsive.
-HOWEVER -
One of the key features of this sports streaming app has been, for at least the past 5 years, on on screen box score display that allows the watcher to jump to any (already played) inning. This has been accessed by pressing the down arrow.
I've contacted MLB support and they say that the feature is still part of their product. And when I log to MLB on my desktop, the feature is there. However it is missing in the Roku App.
Anyone aware of workarounds to get this working?
I have tried deleting the MLB app and reinstalling - no luck.
TIA for any insights....
Hi @Anonymous,
Thanks for the note here.
For more information about that channel's features and functionality, you'll want to contact the channel provider support directly to inquire further. Many channels on Roku are developed and maintained by the channel provider themselves.
You can reach them here: https://www.mlb.com/official-information/faqs
Thanks,
Mary
When you removed the channel, did you reboot your Roku before adding it back in? If you did not do that, then it was never actually removed.
It's also possible the MLB support person has no idea what each version of their app actually has. Just because one version (say for Android devices) has a certain function there is no guarantee that the Roku version has it. It wouldn't be the first time different versions have different functionality.
That feature is just gone, as someone whose team won the world series 🙂 I have been using the mlbtv app all off season to rewatch the games from the playoffs, I really miss that feature too.
More than 1 key feature missing:
A 1 min fast forward & rewind skip time?? Really?? This isn't a VCR tape here
The box score is key, agreed, especially when catching up on a game already started
The skip to each at bat was awesome as well

Thanks for your reply. MLB says that the feature is there and that Roku needs to implement it.
The old run around game.
The app is brand new and has many improvements over past years. Version 7.1 build 1.
Any chance Roku might contact MLB programing and note you have received complaints regarding the box score feature?
Thanks for your consideration.
Yep, MLB is hosing you. Roku can't implement anything within the MLB channel. They did not create the channel, MLB did. And only the developer can make changes to the channel. There's nothing Roku can do to make changes within a channel.
Also noticed that the division standings page is nowhere to be found.
I don"t think you are right. The missing features work fine online and on other devices. Only missing on the Roku feed. Graphics are and have always been different on Roku, vs say watching it on Samsung smart tv where no device is needed.

The features we are talking about were indeed in the previous version of the Roku MLB app.
They disappeared from the Roku app with this year's version.
