Solving playback issues

My Hbo max Netflix and discovery + will not play selected movies. I hit the selection and it goes back to the channel selection. I have tried reboot, new hdmi cord, taking off the app and putting it back on and nothing fixed it. I have a 4k+

What specific Roku model device are you using? In addition, how are you powering the Roku device? Is the device plugged into the TV USB port or is it plugged into a wall outlet?

It is model express 4k+3941x

The roku is plugged into a power surge strip going to the wall
