When the headphone jack on my RC-AL9 failed I ordered a Roku RC506 Enhanced Voice Remote from the Roku website but received a RC-EL3 remote. Is that the same device or did Roku screw up? With the RC-EL3 I have to keep adjusting the sound all the way up to 100 to hear some parts of what I'm watching and then ramp it back down to 60 to avoid extremely loud sound. I've seen something on the Roku website about adjusting the "Volume Mode" but the instructions don't work with the RC-EL3. Could adjusting the volume mode cure my problem and if so where are the instructions to do the adjustment on a RC-EL3? Or would getting Roku to send me what I paid for i.e. the RC506 cure my problem.
1) Check your remote model #: Settings/Remotes & devices/Remotes/<your remote> (In use)/About
2) Volume modes are Roku model # (not remote model #) dependent (you didnt state yours)
To use: During playback, press Options (*) Volume Mode= (select leveling, night mode)
3) Different HE (headphone) remote models have different volume levels/ranges, so dont expect any miracle.
Its a Roku Streaming stick with voice remote 3811R
The original remote for the 3811 was the RC-AL8. Which was never sold separately. Did your's have the 1 & 2 keys?
My post explained to you how to check the remote's model # (not the Roku's model #) - follow the provided steps
Both the old RC-AL9 and the new RC-EL3 have 1 & 2 keys. They both have exactly the same keys.
When I hit the home button on the RC-EL3 I can scroll down to "Settings" and then to "Audio" but there is no "Volume Mode"on the main "Home" screen or the "Settings" or the "Audio" screen
Again, you need to follow the directions in the initial response to you for how to check the remote's model # and check volume modes.
Read the first response to you, follow those directions.
The remote (the stick that plugs into the TV is a Model 3811R.
The rc-al9 remote was replaced by the rc-el3, probably newer manufacturer. And the now the rc-el3 has been dropped from roku line up of remotes available for sale, they are no longer selling Enhanced voice remote that takes batteries. Now the rechargeable Voice pro is the only remote with headphone jack in Roku line-up, thats when its back in stock. Although I'm being offered the Enhanced voice remote on my upgrade page for its original price of $29.99 probably until its sold out. 🙂
You're having trouble with volume on your remote like many others, only fix is to replace remote.
