HDCP 1.4 v error during set up (older Toshiba TV model)

Jump to solution

I purchased a Roku Express 3700X to use on my old Toshiba 26HF85 that does 1080.  However I get an HDCP 1.4 v error during set up saying only allows 480.  Anyone know a good switch box that works for old TVs?  I’ve tried 2 but no luck. Thanks

Well the TV is much older than that. (Amazon says they started selling it in 2001.) It might actually be worthwhile to find an even older Roku that still had other kinds of video outputs. Or replace the TV. Or maybe get an HDMI to component converter. This TV was labeled "HD-Ready", but sometimes being compatible with the future isn't easy.

When did you purchase that Roku device? The model 3700 was discontinued in 2017, replaced by model 3900. I'm wondering if there is an issue with the device, if you bought it second-hand.

The label on the back of the tv says with that serial number was made in April 2005.   The TV still works great, so im not going to get rid of it til it dies, but i'll try that HDMI to component solution to see if that might work.  Thanks
