I just purchased my Roku a few days ago. Thinking it’s better then fire stick, unfortunately it’s a bit more frustrating. It keeps crashing out of Roku Channel App and returning to the Home Screen. I can’t even watch something longer then a couple minutes. I have tried restarting and uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Neither has worked. Any suggestions before I take it back ?
You dont mention what model you have etc.
When removing an app to reinstall it, you MUST RESTART the Roku before reinstalling it:
1) Remove app
2) Restart Roku
3) Reinstall app
I’m sorry I have the express. I have already tried that method. Didn’t work for me

If you are powering your Roku by plugging into the USB port on the TV, try powering from house power via the USB power adapter that came with the Roku. Many USB ports only supply 0.5 amp or less, which is not enough to power a Roku reliably.
If you don't have the Roku adapter handy, any other you have from another device should work as long as the fine print on it says it outputs at least 1 amp.
I have the same issue... Roku Express, 9.4.0 build 4200-AE. Youtube TV and Amazon Prime will kick me back out to the home screen after about 5 minutes but Netflix can stream all day with no issue. I removed the apps restarted and reinstalled with no resolution. I performed a factory reset and still have the issue. My router is in the same room, directly plugged in to power outlet, tried different HDMI ports and cables. Not sure what to try next...

Make sure your internet download speed is sufficient (Settings/Network/Check connection).
Change the 2.4Ghz WiFi channel in your modem/router/gateway, or reduce the bandwidth from Auto or 40 to 20Mhz.
Try limiting your Display resolution to 720p (Settings/Display/720p).
Otherwise, report the issue to Google and Amazon:

Finally, you can return/exchange it, if its within your retailers return window.
