Flashing Square boxes at startup Roku Ultra intermittent

About every other day I get these flashing boxes on the screen.

I use the device in my home theater so it is connected to my AVR. Denon X4400H

Connecting to my TV direct is not acceptable or a solution.

Ive had the device for about 7 months and it has worked flawlessly since initial setup.

To be clear, I have made no changes to system settings since I began using it and I do not believe I have had any updates recently or just prior to the issue began.

Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision HDR is and has been amazing.

About a month ago these boxes started to appear randomly at startup.

Restarting entire setup (Turn all off then on again)  has no effect but, when I go into the Ultra's setting and restart the Roku  all boxes go away.

Although this work around is effective it's quit annoying.

Is this box beginning to fail? Do I need to replace it?

Here too is a video of the boxes.

@owcraftsman

Thanks for the post.

For troubleshooting purposes, have you tried plugging the device directly to the TV to see if you are experiencing the same issue? Have you also tried replacing the HDMI cable used to connect the device?

With more information, we will be able to provide further assistance.

Thanks,
Danny

Re: Flashing Square boxes at startup Roku Ultra intermittent

I have not tried a new cable but I hate plugging in and out anything as there is risk to doing so.

Still this doesn't account for, HDMI cable included, working fine after a restart.

Seems to me the cable is either fine or not working right at all.

Its not like I have to shake it, tap on it, or something like that.
