Dolby Passthrough Not Working

Jump to solution

I recently purchased a Beam 2 to use with an LG C4 and Roku 4K stick. No matter what I try, I can’t get the Roku to passthrough Dolby 5.1/Atmos. The audio always registers as stereo PCM on the Sonos app. Atmos works just fine when I use the native apps on the TV. I have tried various audio settings on the Roku, but I keep getting stereo audio when I should be getting Atmos. Any suggestions?

The settings on the TV are as follows:

HDMI Input Audio Format: Bitstream

Digital Sound Output: Pass Through

eARC Support: On

On the Roku, Digital Output Format is set to Auto.

Hi @wintermute2_0,

Thanks for posting in the Roku Community!

We appreciate you letting us know that you only hear stereo audio on Sonos Beam Soundbar using your Roku device.

If you are using volume modes, movies and TV shows you stream with a surround sound format such as Dolby Digital, DTS, Dolby Digital Plus, and Dolby ATMOS may be converted to stereo. If your Roku device is connected to an AVR or soundbar, you may need to set volume modes to ‘Off’ to hear the surround sound format.

For reference, please visit our Roku support article: How to set up your Roku® streaming player for surround sound.

We hope to get this sorted out soon.

Cheers,
