I have had a few Rokus and have 2 in the home and this is the first time this has happened. Brand new NOT a refurbished, 4K streaming stick. I will be watching a channel and for no reason whatsoever, no warning, channel will stop and I will be back on home page. It happens on every channel so not just limited to a certain channel. The WiFi is fine as I have a laptop in the same area that never has signal issues (I'm on a mesh system with 200GBPS).
I have checked the settings to see if there is something I am missing there and doesn't seem to be.
Is there a solution to this because nothing is more annoying than watching a movie/tv show and all of a sudden be flipped to the home page and having to go back to the movie/show, especially live or a pay channel/movie rental.
Again, I have been a Roku owner in one form or another (different boxes, sticks and bought upgrades) for 11 years and have never had issues. The stick isn't over heating, there's no problem going back to the channels, wifi connection hasn't dropped, just bang zoom home channel.
Please help.
Hey @Philip_Norris
Thanks for letting us know about the issue you're experiencing.
Could you tell us how are you powering your Roku device? Is it connected to the USB port of the TV or to a wall outlet? In some cases, the USB power provided by the TV is not sufficient to power the device. Even though your Roku device may appear to be working, running with insufficient power can lead to instability, crashing, and other unpredictable behavior.
Using the included power cord and power adapter, we suggest plugging your Roku into a working power outlet in the wall. Powering it through a power outlet in the wall has the additional advantage that your Roku player will not need to power up every time you turn on your TV.
Let us know if there's any difference after.
All the best,
Kariza
It's powered by the adapter (wall outlet) that came with it. I didn't even know it could plug into the TV USB to be honest.
Like I stated, after owning a few Rokus and having the exact same model elsewhere in the home (no the remote signals are not affecting either, I checked that thinking maybe when the other was being changed it was affecting the one I use, but that is not the case). This is the only one I have ever had issues with except my very first one that would overheat.
I have even tried different HDMI inputs on the TV.
This still sounds to me like a possible power supply problem.
Have you tried swapping USB power converters between Rokus to see if the problem follows the converter?
Still does it but did not affect the other.
I apologize for the delay in response.
Please reply here with the serial number of the affected Roku device. It can be found in Settings > System > About. I'll be able to further assist you from there.
All the best,
Kariza
Gotta ask one question because I didn't see the information mentioned in any of these posts.
How long is it streaming? From the time you press Play until the Home page return happens, how long is it?
Does the time vary from first use of the day? That is, first time it's a unit of time. The next time, it's half that (for example), and so on? Is it consistent in how long before it happens?

It varies and is inconsistent, but on average it will happen at least 3 times a day. Sometimes it'll happen within half an hour other times hours. It's just very sporadic and annoying.
