Captions will not stay off despite changing the settings

I've tried repeatedly to turn the captions off but when I go back to watch a show they are on again.  Go to settings and they are on, turn them off, right back on, wash, rinse, repeat.  How the heck do I make them stay off?

Welcome to the Roku Community!

To verify which streaming channels are you experiencing this issue on?

Suppose you are pertaining to our Roku Audio Guide feature. In that case, you can disable the audio guide feature by either pressing the * key four times quickly on your Roku remote or from within the options in Settings > Accessibility > Audio Guide.
