For the past 2 months, whenever I try to play anything on the CBS free app, it won't load properly. It loads the commercials fine, then when it tries to play the program, it freezes and won't load. Other times, it will load initially, then when the next set of commercials comes on, the minute those commercials end, the video won't load. It doesn't matter what show I am trying to watch, it does it with all of them. Please help fix this. Thank you
When problems are confined to a particular channel, it may be that the channel didn't install properly, that it didn't update correctly, or that the installation has otherwise gotten corrupted. A reinstall may fix the problem, so give it a try.
Remove/reinstall procedure:
If the problem persists at this point, it typically means the current version of the channel app has a problem that must be addressed by the channel itself as they are the ones that create the Roku-compatible version of their app and provide it to Roku.
Tried all the suggestions here and none worked. This happens on all three of my Roku devices. Extremely frustrating. Went over to Paramount to look for possible solutions as suggested in the last line. Their solutions were exactly the same as those espoused here.
This is not acceptable. The same exact problem on three different Roku devices? Other users experiencing the same problems and the suggested actions don't work? I don't know that I've seen anyone who complained about this on this forum saying Restart or unplug/wait/replug actually worked.
Try signing out of the app then signing back in an reauthorizing with your tv provider.
Background:
As a result of this thread, I went into the CBS app, which I had authorized a long time ago with my DirecTV account credentials. I didn't get the exact problem mentioned here, but I still could not run a program.
I could view the menus, and try to play a selection, only to receive an error message before even getting the initial commercials. Sorry, I was too dumb to record its wording, but it was something to the effect we have run into a problem. I tried two or three more different programs with the same result.
I then signed out of the CBS app (if necessary, press back until the left side menu shows, go down to "Sign-Out").
After that I signed back in and reauthorized with my DirecTV account.
Now when I select a program it loads and shows the initial commercials then goes straight into the program. I loaded the current Blue Bloods and watched it through the first 2-minute set of commercials a few minutes into the program. It ran the commercials and returned to the program without issue.
It may be worth a try to see if signing out and back in fixes your problem too.
Right? It doesn't work at all. I can use the free CBS app (not signing in with a provider, but the "free" version on my smart tv with no problems. It's only Roku that gives me issues.
I went on settings on CBS app on my Roku today, then "support", and found this email to send problems to, so for those also having this problem, ,I'm sure the more people who email them, the better.

Are people still experiencing the issues described above? I just installed CBS and was able to stream the unlocked episodes of Blue Bloods, a couple of NCIS episodes, and Adele-One Night Only. Ads loaded and then programs loaded fine. I only tested a couple of mins into episodes so may now be working for those that were experiencing issues. (tested on Ultra 4660). Interestingly, although each time said ad 1 of 2, only 1 ad played before entering program.
Used free version of CBS as I do not have TV providers/credentials.

I think the second "ad" is the very short CBS screen it shows just before the program starts.
