Solving playback issues

I have the Roku Streaming Stick and the brightness level on my TV is way too low.  I can't find any solutions for this issue that relate to the Streaming Stick, only the Roku TV.  How do I change this so I can actually see what I'm watching?

Is the display issue you are experiencing only happening on a specific channel or does it happen regardless the channel you are streaming?

Have you tried adjusting the display settings when streaming by pressing the * button?

My normal TV is fine but once I turn on the Roku Streaming Stick the brightness is dramatically reduced on everything I see on Roku, home page, channels, apps, everything.

The display settings on the Roku Streaming Stick don't have any settings for brightness, I see they do on actual Roku TV's but there isn't that option on the Roku Streaming Stick, which is why I have to try to hunt down the answers elsewhere.
