Early today on a Roku 3820X 4K streaming stick running Software 14.1, all video playback was a black screen.
First app I tried was DirecTV. I could hear audio but there was no picture. I hit home and then tried Plex. Same thing, audio clear as day but the picture was pure black. I hit home. Next I went into YouTube. Picked the first video on the list. Video was black, all I saw was the YouTube UI ad counter in the bottom right counting down 5 seconds until the skip ad button appears. I could hear the preroll ad playing.
I pulled the power cord for 5 seconds which rebooted the TV and Roku. Everything was fine and watched a movie in Plex.
Then 2 hours later went to YouTube and the video was black again! This time navigated to system settings and initiated a reboot from the menu. It’s working now but this was just weird!
I don’t think I ever saw this on my Apple TV in my bedroom.
I did a check for system updates in the menu but it said the system is up to date.
