According to Jim Roku Channel Audio Issues

While the show is airing, the audio volume will fade so low at random intervals, it can be barely heard. Then pop right back to normal randomly. Only this channel has this issue for me. Other channels never do this. When the channel goes to commercial, the audio is always normal. For example, if the show audio happens to fade very low and channel goes to commercial, the audio jumps to normal instantly. All 4 of my TVs experience this issue, no other Roku channels I view have this issue, only this channel. Seems this started maybe roughly two weeks ago. Any ideas?

Re: According to Jim Roku Channel Audio Issues

@Black93fox

I noticed this as well when I was watching it. (ch.827 Roku Channel Live)  Happened across all devices and if I remember correctly was limited to certain episodes.

A couple of times, I was able to channel up or down, and immediately return to According to Jim. and the sound would be fixed.  At other times, just had to wait for the next episode and sound returned fine.  That is why I am not sure if maybe a couple of issues going on. (some Roku audio processing related, others episode related).

I have similar issues currently with Castle (Roku Channel on-demand) where audio drops to very low volume but that is easily fixed by backing out and returning back to the episode.

When issues like this arise, you will usually find that the ads always seem to play fine.

Re: According to Jim Roku Channel Audio Issues

Appreciate knowing I am not the only one that noticed. I just tried exiting roku and open channel again, was still low volume. Waited for audio to correct itself, then went channel up, channel back down, still did not correct. The channel I changed to was playing at correct volume. I am guessing it has to be something in the source file itself Roku is using or however the process the stream. I am hoping someone at Roku could chime in on this thread.

Hey @Black93fox,

Thank you for posting here in the Roku Community!

We'd like to take a closer look into this issue you had. Can you please provide the following information?

  • Is the issue happening on all contents/channels, or is this isolated to 1 content/channel? (Specify)
  • Do you have any other device/s connected to your TV? (e.g.,. speakers and another sound system)
  • What troubleshooting steps have you taken so far?

We look forward to hearing from you soon and gathering your details.

Re: According to Jim Roku Channel Audio Issues

Issue has not been present for the last week and now has returned again. Every TV. Same situation. Show audio fades out for 10 to 15 seconds then returns. Random times. Commercials are always correct volume. There is no option via any menu to "Update Channel" or any option at all.

"There is no option via any menu to "Update Channel" or any option at all."

What was meant here was to go to the Home Screen, highlight the LiveTV tile, press the asterisk (*) button on your Roku Remote, and select "Check for Updates".

You can certainly try it, but, unfortunately it won't do any good.
