I got my Outdoor Camera SE and the base station the past Wednesday. I followed the instructions to set up the base station, pair the camera to the base station, fully charged the camera before use, and downloaded the Roku Smart Home app. While I know that it comes with a 14-day trial, I actually bought a one-month subscription for the camera, too.
I installed the camera yesterday. It was installed right above the garage door with full view of my driveway. Initially, after the installation, nothing was recorded (didn't get anything in the Events in the app and didn't get any notifications). I went to the Gear icon and updated the detection settings. It then started recording yesterday.
However, when I left for church this morning, after I had driven my car out of the driveway, I noticed that I didn't get any notifications for that either. The Smart Detection events are set to Person, Package, Vehicle, and Pet. When I got a chance to stop, I opened the app and found that nothing was recorded either. So, I went to the app to view the settings to make sure I got the proper settings. I only checked without making any changes. After doing the check, that's when I started getting the events recorded (the recording of my car leaving the driveway was still missing though). So, it appears to me that, to start the day, have to go to the gear icon in the Smart Home app to review the settings first in order for the camera to start recording events.

To help you get back on track, here are some suggested steps you can try:
Make sure to check the filters, as you may have events filtered. This can be checked by going to the events tab and doing the following.
1. The person and motion tab should be white, not purple. If it is purple, tap the icon to unselect it.
2. If the camera section is purple, tap it and hit “clear all” at the top right. Then hit “Apply” at the bottom to select all cameras.
3. Check to see if events showed up.
Let us know if that helps!
