I am currently using direct TV and if it rains my tv goes out. my bill is 200.00 per month and I am looking for alternative. any help would be appreciated. I am a women and 72 and don't know a lot.
Yes, Roku streams TV from the internet, so internet access is needed.
By the way, have you checked the alignment of your dish? With digital TV systems, you get a good picture even when the signal is fairly poor, so some people stop aligning when the dish is just barely getting signal, and then a little weather knocks it below the threshold.

If you are using a Roku device, It is recommended that you have high speed internet (at least 25 megabytes per second speeds) and an unlimited data package for whoever your internet provider is.
I am saving money by not using cable TV, and I am just paying $7.00 more a month for unlimited data with my internet provider. It's worth it!
