Will I need to pay for shows (like FOX News) that I never watch if I switch to Roku

Jump to solution

Hi Everyone,

One of the reasons why my cable bill is so high is that Fox News gets a percentage of it whether I watch them or not. I am looking to sign up for Roku for that reason.; but first, I must have their assurance that none of the money that I pay them in fees will ever go to Fox News if I never watch them.

Your cable subscription is likely paying for many more channels you don't watch than just Fox News.

After you purchase a Roku device you need never pay Roku a single additional cent.

You MAY choose to purchase premium subscriptions, movie rentals, pay per view events, etc. through Roku, but these are at your discretion.

Yeah, Roku has more choices than "whatever the local cable company happens to be".  There are some available services that do look to varying degrees like "some local cable company" and there are other things like Netflix, Prime, Paramount+ etc. which are nothing like live TV/cable.

By the way, there's no need to drop cable TV when getting a Roku, and since they are so cheap, I see little reason to not just pick one up and play with it for awhile before terminating anything you have.
