When trying to watch a movie, I press Play, it says it is Loading but returns to Play

Attempt to watch a movie, press the "Play" button, screen flashes and returns to the "Play" button.

This is happening on 2 separate sets

1 A Phillips ROKU tv connect to router via WiFi.

2 A Sharp TV, NOT smart tv, with a ROKU Ultra WIRED via a network cable to the router.

I can watch other channels (Paramount, Tubi, CBS) and stream movies without problem.

The problem is only on the ROKU channel.

I have viewed many "solutions" on the Internet, but they all say "ROKU TV.  My main concern is on an older  that is NOT an ROKU tv.

Any NEW suggestions???

Any "solution" that applies to a Roku TV would most likely apply to any Roku device and vice versa.  Where are you located?  People in Canada seem to have more than their fair share of problems with The Roku Channel.

We have the identical problem.  All Roku channel episodes worked fine Jan 9 2023, but the next day the episodes all show and seem to load briefly, then bounce back to the play launch screen.

@Neva

Thanks for the post.

We would be more than happy to look further into this issue, but will need more details. Can you please provide us the following information:

  • Roku device model, serial number, device ID, and software OS/version (these can all be found in Settings > System > About)
  • does this issue occur on a specific channel? if so, what channel and what version/build is the channel (this can be found be selecting the channel on the Home screen and pressing the * button)
  • how are you powering the Roku device
  • tracker ID when this issue occurs (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times and provide us with this ID)
  • steps to reproduce the issue you are seeing

With more detailed information, we will be able to investigate further.

Thanks,
Danny
