Roku setup

Basically what the caption says. I lost the remote to the TCL Roku TV so I bought a new one so I proceeded to reset the TV as I had no way to connect to the internet or navigate the TV. I unplugged everything (yes even HDMI cables and USB), let it sat unplugged for around 5 minutes. Replugged everything in and the Roku simple remote won’t connect to the TV. I know it’s not a batteries issue because the Roku Express flashes when I press buttons on the remote. I reset the TV numerous times, I reset the remote by holding the back arrow and home button to see if it would do anything and nothing. I cannot connect to the internet as the remote will not connect to the TV at all. I have no idea what to do next I have pretty much tried almost everything possible. Need help.

Roku devices and Roku TVs use different sets of infrared control codes.  A Roku Express infrared remote (formerly called the "simple" remote, now called the "players" remote) will not work with a Roku TV. 

Any of the Roku Voice Remote models can be used with a Roku TV.  They connect via WiFi direct and must be paired with the Roku it is to be used with.

You also can find a direct replacement remote specifically for Roku TVs (either generic or for specific TV brands, all are interchangeable) at many retailers, on Amazon, and directly from Roku.

Also many inexpensive universal infrared remote controls contain codes for Roku TVs, just be sure it says it will control  "Roku TV"  not just a "Roku".
