Set up reboot loop

I am beyond pissed.   I have spent OVER an hour searching this with no luck.   I just purchased the Roku express.    Now I have spent the last two hours watching the reboot loop after the update.   It won’t let me reset it, change the WiFi connection, nothing.    I cannot contact customer support because it isn’t available....for an item I just paid $40 for?   Is this junk and just needs to be returned to Meijer?   So disappointed Roku.

Re: Set up reboot loop

Hi @Rpaconley76,

Thanks for the post.

How are you powering the device? Is it plugged into the TV USB port, or is it plugged into the wall outlet with the provided cables?

In addition, I'd also recommend trying to connect your device to an alternate network, such as a mobile hotspot, to see if you can finish updating your Roku device and setting it up. Then once your device has been setup, try switching back to your home wireless network.

Please keep us posted.

Thanks,

Mary

I’m having the same exact problem, I can’t connect to my hot spot because it won’t let me do anything

@Bergman1

Thanks for the post.

Can you please provide more information about the issue you are experiencing? What are you seeing on screen and can you provide specific details about how to reproduce what you are seeing?

With more information we will be able to assist you further.

Thanks,
Danny

Re: Set up reboot loop

It is plugged into the wall outlet.   It will not let me reset it to change networks.  I have tried the reset button on the back and it just keeps restarting over and over.

Re: Set up reboot loop

This is ridiculous.   Why isn’t there a way to reach customer service??  I will never recommend or buy roku again

Re: Set up reboot loop

Are you holding down the reset button for a full 30 seconds? Gotta do that or the factory reset might not complete.

Re: Set up reboot loop

Which device do you have? What's the model number? You said you paid over $40 for it, but you also said it's an Express. That doesn't fit. Express models are $30 when they aren't on sale. Is sales tax 35% there? Something doesn't line up.

One thing about resolving this: If it doesn't work out of the box, take it back. Don't sit and fiddlefart around for two weeks, take it back, immediately or next day. Some stores have a limited return or exchange period. Most Roku devices work flawlessly out of the box. But, sometimes, bad ones happen. Just like with Fire TV, or even with Cadillac. It may be you got a bad one. Take it back. Refund or exchange.

And check their prices again. $40 for a Roku Express is way too much. https://www.roku.com/products/roku-express
