Roku says something intelligible when I move from one setting or item. How can I make that stop?

Jump to solution

Roku Streamstick+ keeps saying something I can't understand each time I move the arrow to another item or setting.  Audio works fine once I start a movie. How do I get Roku to stop talking each time I move to a new item or setting?  Pressing the microphone button on and off but it has no effect.

A feature called Audio Guide announces where you are in the Roku menus for the benefit of the visually impaired. At some point you probably hit the * key four times in a short period of time. This is a shortcut that toggles the Audio Guide feature on and off, so four quick presses of the * key should turn the Audio Guide feature back off.

To deactivate the four-* trigger shortcut altogether use menu path Settings > Accessibility > Shortcut (in the Audio Guide section) > Disabled

Thanks so much!  I never would have found that on my own, I am a retired senior citizen and it was a challenge just getting the thing hooked up.  Don't see a way to close this but maybe you can.
