Reboot sequence keeps going

So, i recently purchased an Express, simply to stream content from my phone to the TV in our RV.  When setting up my Express it stated that there was an update available and it needed to install.  So i hit ok and it started the update process.  Upon completing the first update it stated it needed to do another.  This time it went through the update process and when it started the reboot process, it just keeps rebooting.  The screen comes on and its a dancing Roku logo.  Then, the screen goes black and then it turns purple, and then the dancing Roku comes back on.  Repeatedly.  I let it run through this for about 2 hours and can get nothing.  I have unplugged the unit for long periods of time, i have hit the reset button several times, and this sequence is still happening.  Can any one help me with this?

Re: Reboot sequence keeps going

With the power connected hold the reset button in for no less than 30 seconds and make sure you're using the supplied power adapter.

Re: Reboot sequence keeps going

How are you connecting to the internet?

I've never had this happen with any of mine (at least not so far, knock wood...) but it is frequently reported.

Some people with this problem have reported success by using a wifi hot spot on their mobile phone as the internet connection. If/when it completes the update successfully then they could switch it back to using their home wifi network.

If you don't have a phone hot spot available you could take it to a friend or neighbor's and try using their wifi for the update.

This has not been universally successful, but many people have reported it worked for them.

Let us know how you make out.

Re: Reboot sequence keeps going

Have not gotten it yet, but have not had the opportunity to try holding the reset for 30 seconds.

Re: Reboot sequence keeps going

If these are all Express or Premier models, one other thing comes to mind:

Roku models Express, Express+, Premiere, and Premiere+ cannot connect to the 5 GHz wifi band, only to the 2.4 GHz band. If you have one of these models and a dual band router with both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, be sure the router's 2.4 GHz band is turned on.

Also, there have been a number of reports lately of people who have routers supplied by their Internet Provider having their router's 2.4 GHz band disabled by an update to the router software. They've had to have their Internet Provider re-enable the 2.4 GHz band, or in some cases swap in a new router.
