Roku setup

Hello Dear Ruku Express Communality,

I already have already 3 badges without even being able to watch a single show with my brand new ROKU EXPRESS.

I'm using a cricket hotspot, which works great on all of my other apps.

My roku finds my network in the scan, accepts my network password and shows me two out green checks,

for "Wireless connection" and Internet Connection. Although I see now RED X,  I'm concerned after watching the help Vidoes which show 3 green checks,  only have 2.

The TV  then provides me a activation code, or sometime it has enter my email adress, then I receive a activation link. In either case the result is the same, before I can complete the activation I get.....

       "Unable to connect to Roku Service Error 001"

Sometimes in ROCU website activation I actually get to done! but still.....

       "Unable to connect to Roku Service Error 001"

and trying again....

 "Unable to connect to Roku Service Error 001" and  again "Unable to connect to Roku Service Error 001"

again and again and again, I have now lost my mind.

I have tried rebooting both router and Ruku, following Community advice

Also on recommendation of the Community i have read the articles for possible software update  problems. (I did see the update blink by) But the article seem to be for persons who have already achieved activation.

I forgot to tell you that in that box where it says "Unable to connect to Roku Service Error 001"

It also says.... "Please try connecting again in a minute" I did.... allot.

It also says... "For more assistance visit:go.roku/software update" I did but no roku for me still..

Naturally I tried to fin a phone number, but believe it or not ROKU call me! I was thrilled, GREAT job you could tell I was struggling and here you are ROKU to the RESCUE!

This fellow with a Central East Asian accent reassured me I will be fixed up in 10 minutes with Liftime free movies, and 24/7 live tech support for mire $112 American dollars.

I decided that he was not actually ROKU however you can find on a google search if any here would

would be entertained speaking with him. But to save time this is his number from my caller ID, I called him back, the number works!!! then I hung up.

PLEASE DEAR FRIENDS  can anyone here help me activate?

One more UPDATE the friendly FAKE Roku support guys phone number is 816-272-8106..Dont give him any money!

I don't have much advice on getting a mobile hotspot to work other than I hope you have unlimited data and that it's not throttled after using so many GB.  It occurs to me that Cricket could possibly be blocking Roku, but that sounds like more of a conspiracy theory than anything.

There used to be three check marks, but now there's only two; I guess Roku never updated their documentation.

If you haven't even made it through the activation the usual advice is to use your phone as a hotspot just to get through the initial setup.  Another idea is to take it to a friend's and use their network just to get through the initial setup, if possible.

Finally, don't go searching for a Roku phone number.  All you will find are scams.  Roku has no phone support and definitely no paid support.
