I am desperate for help! I have a Sony Bravia 4K VH21 model TV. I had the Roku Ultra before and it worked just fine. I just bought a Roku Streambar SE and hooked it up. It’s hooked up to the eARC HDMI 3 port on my TV. I CANNOT GET ANY SOUND FROM TV CHANNELS. I do get sound from streaming channels or music. I’ve gone through troubleshooting steps numerous times: checking connections, turning off devices and unplugging, The new streambar SE shows in my Bravia Sync device list. It says HDMI 3 is connected to Roku Streambar. I’ve ’enabled’ it several times. HDMI signal format for eARC is set to Enhanced Format but I’ve also tried Standard Format and nothing changes. Under Manage Inputs, HDMI 3 (eARC/ARC) is selected. I’ve checked all TV volume levels. I’ve even reset to factory settings. I’ve got the latest software update on TV and Streambar SE. I don’t know what else to do! Help?
I know this is a stretch, but have you tried a different HDMI cable?
I have not tried a different HDMI cable, only the one that came with the streambar. Does it make sense that a cable would only work for one part of its functionality and not another part?
I had a chat with Roku help and they say the Streambar SE is a streaming device, not a speaker. But then, how does the sound come through for streaming? Apparently I totally misunderstood how a streambar should work. Very disappointed as this seems like a no brainer to me.
So, we’ll just unplug the streambar when we want the TV. If anyone else has a solution, I’m all ears.
Thanks for sharing this setup for your Roku Streambar SE, we're here to help!
You can then use the Roku Streambar SE with Sony TV channels. It has to be set up correctly by connecting it to the HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel) port. If your TV lacks an ARC input, use the included optical cable instead. This FAQ provides detailed setup instructions.
In addition, you may also need to adjust some settings on your Sony TV, which sends the audio signal. Check the Sony support link for guidance, and if problems persist, contact Sony support for help.
Keep us posted.
