I don't believe the Roku people have a clue what is wrong. - OR - they have a solution and it is too expensive to fix it. My TCL Roku unit from a year prior (apparently when Roku had an agreement with TCL), has NO SUCH PROBLEM.
The only real solution would be a class action suit of law. HELLO! ANY INTERESTED LAW FIRMS OUT THERE??
@JoanneWill That's excellent. Keep us posted about how it goes.
It feels like I've performed about 20 factory resets, but it never fixes my flavor of the Live TV Pause issue. Not even a new TV fixed it! At this point, I think I can do a Factory Reset in five minutes. However, I run most of my smart applications using an external Google TV Streaming box, so its fairly easy. Just don't tell Roku.
I'm not surprised and neither are you, I doubt. So what now? Hope you gonna ask for refund?
It was about a 50/50 shot, so I was not surprised that the new TV failed. I will probably keep the TV, since it is still better than four or five other $200-$300 budget TVs that I previously evaluated from Hisense, onn (Walmart), Westinghouse, and TCL. The Google TV interface on my onn Google 4K Streaming Device is fantastic. However, when it is integrated into a TV set, there always seems to be issues and/or bugs. Also, the Live TV interface has a poor TV listing guide, and there is no live TV play/pause functionality. One side benefit is that I get to see Miss Jane Hathaway pulling up in her 1964 Dodge Polara Convertible 2X.
Roku Support sent me this email last week about the Live TV Pause "video stutter/audio sync/buffer dump" issue.

We sincerely thank you for all your efforts in gathering all the requested information.
As we discussed, we have shared all the information with our back end engineers and they are vigorously working on the reported issue.
To set a proper expectation, our back end team will try to reproduce the issue and will run several tests in order to identify the root-cause of the issue in order to come up with a permanent solution. This requires some additional time for us to get back to you with the update. Until then your patience is highly appreciated.

Thanks for posting this. We know it's BS, they can say that until Kingdom come and most likely will. It's all very well asking us to be patient, but we have paid for a service we aren't getting. I'd really like a refund, please, ROKU!!!
The new Roku 14.5 release was applied to my Roku TV (from version 14.1.4 build 7709 to version 14.5.4 build 5944). To see the version number select "Home->Settings->System->Software update".
Unfortunately, the Live TV Pause Bug was not fixed by this release.
Surprise, surprise! Of course it didn't! Well if that update software remotely then surely they can fix the Live Pause issue, just shows where their priorities lie!
