Roku setup

Rainier Connect in Graham Washington has told me that Roku doesn't work with their system.  Are they mistaken?

It depends on what "work with their system" means. If they mean that they don't have a Roku app, such as the app Comcast/Xfinity has, then they are probably correct. They'd certainly know that.

If they mean that you can't use your cable login credentials to authenticate apps and watch, they may be correct. Most cable companies do allow that, but it may be that they don't.

I seriously doubt they're saying you can't use a Roku with their Internet service. I suspect they're talking about TV app authentication.

I think @DBDukes nailed it.  I believe they are referring to their StreamTV service as being natively supported.  Although the Rainier Connect is still available in the Roku Channel Store  https://channelstore.roku.com/search/rainier it doesn't seem to be supported according to the Rainier website info.

Although their StreamTV service may be unavailable to you, you should still be able to use a Roku Streaming Player plugged into your TV and connected to their internet service.  You would simply use it as any ordinary Roku user would (without potential access to their StreamTV services).
