You can't, initially you have to have a real remote to set the internet up before you can use cellphone app. Go to walmart you can either get Roku voice remote, its wifi remote that once paired with the roku tv just fine. Walmart also sells the One-For-All urc-7935 streamer remote, works great on roku tv's. Onn roku tv's use the same code as TCL roku tv's.
Do you have cable remote that can be programmed for tv's?It might be able to be programmed for the roku tv if its the right kind of cable remote?
