Hook roku to monitor only

I have a Samsung monitor. I hooked up my Roku. But how do I see Roku screen? Do I have to have a keyboard? I just have a black screen.

The monitor will need to support standard TV resolutions. It will also need to support HDCP (High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection).

Some monitors have more than one input.  Does your monitor have speakers?  (Most don’t.)

Re: Hook roku to monitor only

I have used my Roku stick plugged in to an HDMI socket on my computer monitor, and it worked ok. Monitor needs to be switched to correct input, and you should see Roku start up when power applied. Sound came from internal speakers over HDMI ... only snag is that most monitors have no volume control, so pretty fixed volume.
