Purchased this Onn 42" tv back on Black Friday and just set it up. I can't get off the Lets get Started Screen. I tried different batteries but I can't seem to get my tv to recognize the remote and this tv has no buttons to do any selections without using the remote. Any suggestions?
I don't know what kind of remotes the TVs come with. Is there a button in the battery compartment? If so, it has to be paired, but it should prompt for that when you first turn it on. If not, it's an IR remote. You can verify that an IR remote is doing something by pointing it at a digital camera (like the one in your phone) and pressing a button. You should see a flash of light with each button press. IR remotes require a clear line of sight to the front of the TV.
Do you have a soundbar in the front of the tv? That would cover the tv's IR receiver window.
Nope. There's nothing in front of the receiver window. I was also sitting directly in front of the tv so there are no obstructions.
Thanks for the suggestions. It is an IR remote and there is a signal light that I can see on my phone camera. I'm also directly in front of the tv receiving window with no obstructions.
If your TV isn't responding to the remote then you should probably contact onn support:

Roku doesn't manufacture the TVs.
I ended up ordering a new remote on Amazon. I maybe could have tried to get one from Onn but didn't feel like dealing with the hassle of calling and being on hold forever. It seems like several of the buttons on the remote that came with the tv were either stuck continuously engaging or didn't work. The compatible remote I ordered on Amazon responds a bit slow but is doing the trick.
