Roku setup

Hi, have older Roku 3. Worked perfect. Moved and had in storage for few years. Now trying to set up in new house with new internet. Followed a suggestion to do hard reset on device since I couldn't get to work without old network/WiFi info. Pressed little button on device with paper clip. It's now reset. But when I get past bouncing Roku page, it goes to "select language" page but my remote doesn't work to select English. Then it automatically after about 30 secs goes to "pair your remote" page. I press pair button on remote as instructed by this page and my remote green light flashes but it never pairs. Took out batteries, rebooted device, put batteries back in when Roku bouncing. No help.

The white light on device flashes too. So, I thought the device isn't connected to internet here at new house and maybe why remote not pairing? Circular problem, though, because I can't connect device to internet without access to those pages in "options," "settings." Tried rebooting my router and device to get those in sync but nothing changed.

Any other advice? Honestly, I bought a new Premiere version out of frustration and it works great. But I hate to waste the older, perfectly working Roku 3 if I can get it to work and save the $35 with new Premiere.

The premiere comes with an IR roku remote, and so it will work with roku 3 too, use it to at least setup the internet on the roku 3. I have four roku 3 remotes that just blink when the batteries put in, they are very old and I written them off. Get a cheap universal remote for the roku 3 or for the new premiere.

Hi and thx sooo much...that worked!! Just wrote reply and when I hit reply, this form took me back to blank. Frustrating. So I'll recap what I wrote 1st time. Got Roku 3 hooked up to internet at new house and works perfectly with Premier remote. However, after multiple tries to pair old Roku 3 remote, still not pairing. Then remembered I could use Roku Remote phone app. Installed that and bingo, it works perfectly. So, I'll just toss the old remote, use phone Roku app as my remote and all good to go. Probably will return the Premier version and save the $35...or might keep and use in another room to fire up a monitor as a 2nd TV.
