I have a Jensen TV and a Jensen DVD/Sounbar in my RV since new, about 1yr. It has always worked on the HDMI/ARC input. I purchased a Roku Smart Soundbar. Connected to WIFI, updated software without a problem. I do get voice prompts on occasion from the soundbar. However it tells me that 'something went wrong.' Tells me to check ARC settings on TV and to make sure I'm plugged in to an ARC port, which I am. Again the ARC was working before. Any ideas? I have tried two different cables.
Thank you
Have you power cycled everything? Turn off everything for 3 minutes, then power the Roku soundbar on (let it fully boot), then power the TV on.
(this can be necessary when changing ARC/CEC equipment).
Also, verify you have ARC/CEC enabled in the TV.
Thanks for the replay but that didn't do it. I took pictures of the TV menus showing that HDMI CEC was on and all options on. It's odd because the DVD/Soundbar was working fine.
I haven't been able to post the pictures.
FWIW the light on front of the Roku is blinking red
Normally as you know, the Roku light should be solid white when operating correctly. Flashing red is normally insufficent power and a constant red is usually overheating issue. I think I would start with providing proper power supply to the device and take it from there.
You should probably reconnect the old soundbar to make sure the ARC is still working properly.
Was the light on the Smart Soundbar always blinking red? or just after you updated it or power cycled it?
Assuming you have it plugged in (it uses direct AC power), that probably isnt the issue (unless your AC power is insufficient).
Otherwise, its possible there was a bad firmware update - you might try a factory reset.
If that still doesnt resolve it, you can reach out to support:
chat or email: https://support.roku.com/contactus/contact-options (setup/smart soundbar/other/need more help?)
Ultimately, you can always return it.
