Roku setup

I tried multiple options including secret screen to update software on my new Roku express but with no success. I am based in Singapore. Any help to get through with the software update is appreciated

I am sitting with 3 new roku express, connected WiFi (2 Green ticks), each 1 saying UNABLE TO UPDATE SOFTWARE. ERROR CODE :005 I've tried on mobile tethered WiFi as well as now coming to a different house to try another WiFi connection but still the same problem. Is there a fix ? I've also tried the secret screen etc. Roku seems like a pretty garbage company to get any kind of support from.

Having the exact same problem with my three new Roku Express units.  Not a WiFi issue as my month old Roku Premiere is working fine.  Swapped it out for one of the new Express units, but it won’t update.  I assume it’s a Roku issue and those California geeks haven’t shown up for work yet.

Also having the same issue support told me to wait 24 hours 🙄

I am currently having exactly the same problem - I’ve even been to the shop and exchanged the original one and the replacement is doing the same thing. Been trying the 3 hours now - needless to say it’s doing my head in! 
Our other roku box is working fine and we have good internet connection with all other devices in the house.

There's one trick that has worked for numerous users. It makes absolutely no sense, but it has worked for some. Try connecting your Roku to an alternate Internet connection, such as a cell phone hotspot. For absolutely no reason that makes sense, it has worked for others.

I Just bought a roku Express and i can update The software... I checked my Internet, tried another Internet host and nothing

Tried through iPhone hotspot.  Didn’t work.
