Roku tv isn’t responding to Roku app remote

so I broke my remote, and downloaded Roku app on my phone so I could use the remote.mind you I have Hisense roku tv…so on the app it shows my tv being recognized, it says “wake the device” and nothing ever happens. What am I doing wrong?

Try turning the TV on with the power button on the TV and once it's on see if the app connects.  If it does, go into Settings->System->Power and enable "Fast TV start".
