I am not a tech person so please understand my frustration.

I have used the rook very little and just decided I could try once more.

I got the word roqu to come up and before I could go on and select what I wanted it just stayed

Now it jumps and makes the sound every time it jumps.

Have changed batteries, and tried disconnecting the power cord for 5 seconds from one suggestion I found on line.  Also, the batteries were out and put back in as they suggested after the power lapse.

I do not have the name of this rook available.

We can work through this. And thanks for the description of the situation. That's very helpful.

It sounds like there is some glitch going on that's not letting the Roku proceed. However, we do need to verify one more thing.

If it's a Roku Express, then it uses the Simple Remote. There is no power button nor volume controls. And that should simply just work. And, it's not working.

Now, if it's not an Express, let me know. There are some other things to try before what I'm about to suggest. But for an Express with a Simple Remote, this is what to do next, I believe.

With power applied, find the Reset button/pinhole (it will have one or the other) and press for at least 30 seconds. Ignore anything on the screen. Hold for a full 30 seconds. Then see what happens.

There is a red power button on the top.

I do not see volume buttons but a person trying to help me was able to use volume but

I do not know if he was using the rogue remote.

That indicates a Voice Remote, or a Roku TV.

Is there a blue/green button under the battery cover?

I found the button on the back of remote and held for 30 seconds. A green light flashed but

went off so now the rook is singing and dancing once again.

Tried again and the green light is on and the roku is still dancing and singing!
