Roku mobile app

I currently own the roku 1 and forgot the remote at my old place. Is there a way I can use the app to connect to the device and use it as a remote? The roku is not connected to my network. any ideas? I tried customer support but very unhelpful.

In order to use the Roku Remote app it has to be on the same network as the Roku.

You could change the network's SSID & password to match the old one, and your Roku should connect (and you'd be able to use the Roku remote).

Otherwise, since the Roku 1 is IR-only, you can get a cheap $5-15 universal/Roku pre-programmed remote at Walmart/Best Buy/Amazon/etc and use that.

It may be cheaper to simply buy a new Roku Express. The Roku 1 is not really supported by many services anymore and is very slow compared to newer models. If you are using an old TV with composite audio/video inputs, there are many cheap HDMI-to-composite converters available at places like Amazon and even some stores.

A $30 Express 4K+ would be a better recommendation, since its dual band, has a USB ethernet option, is 4K/HDR10/+ capable, and comes with a Voice Remote.
