So I had to change my internet provider password and now my mobile app will not find my device and of course the stupid thing has been turned off and we can't get it turned back on and the **bleep** remote we have does not and never did anything at all which is why we had the terrible app on our phones in the first ever loving place..is this tv a goner? Is there some beacon of hope out there?
The Roku Voice Remote -- $20 and available at Walmart, Best Buy, Target, and other places -- will control Roku TV devices. Apart from that, you need one from the manufacturer. You can't take one brand's Roku TV remote and expect it to work on a different brand Roku TV. It might, but probably won't. The Voice Remotes will.
If, however, the TV is a goner, then it won't. But if you bought a Voice Remote locally from a store, and it didn't work, you could bring it back. Dependent on the return policy, of course, so check that out first.

Roku TVs from these manufacturers all respond to the same set of IR (infrared) commands and so can be used with remotes for any Roku TV in this group:
Element, Haier, Hitachi, Insignia, JVC, Magnavox, onn, Philips, RCA, Sanyo, TCL, Westinghouse.
Remotes from HiSense and Sharp can only be used with HiSense and Sharp Roku TVs because they issue a different set of IR commands. Roku TVs from HiSense and Sharp themselves, though, support both sets of IR commands so they also be used with remotes from either of these two groups of manufactures.
