How can I permanently disable private listening? I open the app to play/pause/rewind what I'm watching, not to hear the show through my phone yet every time I use the app, it switches to private listening even though I don't have headphones plugged it.
I have a galaxy s10e. I've tried redownloading the app. But it still happens.
Thank you
I'm having the same issue. Simple problems like this that get missed by devs are reassuring and stays in my mind when someone asks me which streaming hardware to buy.
Thanks for the post.
Can you please specify the issue you are experiencing?

When I can't find my physical remote, I will open the app. The last several times, the sound starts coming out of my phone. I don't want to listen through my phone. Is there a way to shut off private listening permanently (I turn it off but the next time I open the app, it turns back on) so the sound continues to come through my tv?
I'm have the same issue, I just downloaded the Roku app to my new phone and I toggle Private Listening off and it keeps auto connecting, even from the ⚙️ settings menu.
I have the same issue with private listening turning on by itself. I can't see a pattern as to when it happens or doesn't. My remote crapped out (second Roku device that the remote has quit working btw) so I have to use the mobile app and it's very annoying to have the sound cut out on my TV.
Would like to disable Private Listening all together! The icon shows up on the TV with the numeric volume control with nothing connected. Lose sound and had to download the app to bluetooth sound to a soundbar. Any input can't be listened to through the app on private listening. My remote does not have a headphone jack.
Where is the "off" or "disable" for private listening? The TV goes into private listening on its own and stays there despite removing power or using the app or waiting for sound to return or turning off the tv or switching apps on the tv.
This problem has been getting progressively worse over the 4yrs that I've had it.
Thanks for the post.

The TV will go to private listening at any time at its discretion. There is not a pattern, it is not channel specific. It simply goes to private listening and will switch back and forth at random. This problem is not recreatable, other than it does happen every time for a length of time and may do it multiple times during a show, movie or YouTube(15-30 minutes)
Powering the unit down or removing power has little effect anymore too.
Thank you,
Ryan
Thanks for the post and providing us with your information.
For clarification, are you only using the remote that came with the Roku TV or are you using the Roku mobile app on a mobile device? Can you also provide us with a tracker ID (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times)
With more detailed information, we will be able to assist you further.
