Constant buffering on TheRokuChannel.com

I just got Roku and the Roku Streaming Stick works great on my tv no problems.

However, when I try to watch on TheRokuChannel.com on my Dell computer or Kindle tablet all I get is constant buffering.  It doesn't matter if I play a show from Starz, Acron, or one of the Free episodes available the show buffers all the time. Sometimes when the video stops buffering the show picks up later on like the video continued to play while it was buffering.

It is extremely annoying I've given up watching on the computer or kindle. However, it is frustrating since other people use the tv which means I can't watch my shows.

I do not think it is my internet WiFi connection since I have no issues watching Netflix, Amazon Prime or HBO on the computer / kindle. It only happens when I try to watch shows on TheRokuChannel.com.

@Cosmo200

Thanks for the post.

In general, buffering related issues are caused by a poor internet connection. Have you tried rebooting your wireless network to see if that helps resolve the issue?

Please keep us posted what you find out.

Thanks,
Danny

Re: Constant buffering on TheRokuChannel.com

Thank you for the suggestion. I have rebooted my wireless network.

My other streaming services, Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO do not buffer. It is just TheRokuChannel.com. For example, if I watch A Discover of Witches on Amazon prime it doesn't buffer, but if I watch the same show on TheRokuChannel.com it buffers constantly.

ETA:

Also, I can watch A Discovery of Witched on my tv through the Roku Streaming Stick with no buffering, but if I try and watch the same show on my computer through the TheRokuChannel.com it just buffers constantly.

I would think if it was poor internet connection that the show would buffer on Amazon Prime and on the TV.  Not just when I try and watch on TheRokuChannel.com.

Hey @Cosmo200

I suffered the same issue and found it has something to do with my ad-blocker in my browser. As soon as I turn it off, buffering stops. If I turn it back on, buffering comes back.

Re: Constant buffering on TheRokuChannel.com

It is your awful service not my wifi or connection which at 56 Mbps is more than plenty even for 4k yet your service intermittently drops to unwatchable quality. NO other streaming services buffer or constantly alter the quality of the stream back and forth.

Hi @rob554

Thanks for reaching out to Roku Community.

We apologize for the inconvenience that you're experiencing while streaming on The Roku Channel website. Please be informed that the buffering issue could be caused by various factors and we'd look into this further.

We would appreciate it if you could provide us with more details. Does this happen on specific shows or movies? Have you tried to use another browser like Chrome, or Firefox and see if there's any difference?

This information would help us diagnose the issue.

Regards,
Nimfa

Re: Constant buffering on TheRokuChannel.com

I have the exact same issue as OP.  rocku channel on my computer buffers.  I have a super-fast internet connection and the wifi devices work fine streaming amazon or hulu or whatever.  My computer plays youtube fine, amazon video, netflix, etc.  but when I'm on therokuchannel.roku.com I get buffering.  It definitely seems like roku just has a slow or problematic server for their website.

specifics.  Star Trek Strange new worlds on Chrome. browser.  same browser that plays amazon prime videos, youtube, and netflix and hulu without buffering.   hope that helps.
