On android version 9, galaxy note 8, tried reinstall, tried changing password to only letters and numbers, still say "does not match our records"

In order for the Roku Remote Control app to work your phone needs to be on the same wireless network as your Roku.

If you are using it as a remote then you had to sign into your account to make it work. Are you sure you are using the official Roku Remote Control app? There are about 10 in the playstore but only one made by Roku.

Re: Can't sign in to app. Can use remote function, can sign in online, but the app says wrong login

I’ve use the app several times. Currently on my iPhone. Never set location. You just sign into your Roku account. That’s it. And your connected devices show up. Do you have any permissions settings disabled on your phone or location services off? Sounds like it’s a phone issue and not a Roku app issue. Be sure you’re using the official Roku remote control app from the play store. I used to have a Galaxy S 20 and it also worked perfect. You can’t control any of your devices until you log into your Roku account. Once you log into your Roku account the devices that show up on your Roku account will be in the app. If you weren’t logged into your Roku account you would not be able to control your Roku. Because if that was the case anyone could download the Roku app onto their phone and control anybody’s Roku. Try deleting the app cache and storage then restart your phone

I can't sign in on the app only, I'm literally typing in the same information from the web browser and being told it's wrong

I am only prompted to log in when trying to "set name and location" on the app

Re: Can't sign in to app. Can use remote function, can sign in online, but the app says wrong login

By name they’re probably referring to naming your device and the location is in. Such as “Mikes Roku” location “living room”. Try deleting app cache and app data. It’s a problem with your phone. Android 12 is the latest version. Probably your phone doesn’t support it. But you said you can control the Roku with the app. But you can’t do that unless you sign into the app. So it makes no sense how you can control it. What is the version of the app you are using?

I am trying to rename my tv, I can cast, I can use the remote, I just can't log in because the app says it's the wrong details "doesn't match"

I am using the latest version of the app
