Roku app version 6.0.7.241364-84 works for advanced picture settings and doesn't give the unavoidable "Roku app needs an update" message.

If the links above no longer work, I'd guess you can use any 6.0.7 version prior to the above ones.

Ermagerd... It DOES allow it to open without crashing and no message!!!
Previously, I was using an old apk of version v7.0.2.409945 until the message forcing you to update would come up and not allowing the use of the app anymore. I didn't even think of trying a v6!
Shela627...THANK YOU! For the first time in years I can change Expert Picture Settings and, after a calibration, it looks GREAT!!!
@Shela627 I really appreciate this work around, but I'm having an additional problem now trying to use this app version... It won't allow me to log in. It continually says oops! Something went wrong. And I can't log in. Any suggestions there?
Are you trying to do something other than configure advanced picture settings? That's the only thing I used this old app for and it didn't ask for any login after installing it and calibrating the TV.

Glad it worked for you.
Certain devices, like my phone updated to Android 12, when you go to the advanced picture settings in the Roku app, there ends up being a never ending loading circle on that calibration page and is not usable. Just fyi if anyone tried this and doesn't get it to work...you may want to try on another device or one running another android version possibly. I have a OnePlus device on Android 11 this works on, but the Android 12 phone it just does that loading circle.
@Shela627 No. I hadn't tried it yet, but I assumed I'd have to be logged in and now with your most recent post about Android 12, I'm guessing it still probably won't work from my phone. I'll have to try it and see and if not, try it with my tablet. Thanks!
You basically have to keep the APK around for JUST when you want to change your Expert Picture Settings... It's ridiculous, but it's what we have to do. And you have you uninstall the new version to do it. Then when you are done, uninstall the old version and get back the new one to do everything else. Back and forth... *sigh* But Roku doesn't care

Do you change these expert picture settings often? At least for me, it's a "one and done" sort of thing. I use my laptop with the Calman software and an X-rite i1Pro Colorimeter to calibrate my TV and never touch it again.
Still a problem with my 43 4k set. Eps doesn't work but my set is very dark.
