Special Character Bug

Hi all,

Just wanted to share this on the off chance this hasn't been discovered yet:

Yesterday I discovered a bug regarding the Roku App.

If a user has chosen to name their RokuTV and it involves using any special characters like a "&" symbol, the app will not be able to discover the TV. I had named my Roku TV - M & T. As a result, the TV was not discoverable until I changed it to something else.

Hope this helps!

Re: Special Character Bug

Thanks for sharing your observations here.

To confirm, removing the special character from the device name allows you to connect to the TV successfully?

I'll pass this along to our team to take a closer look.

Cheers,

Re: Special Character Bug

Hi Tanner,

Confirmed! Once I removed the '&' the app found the TV immediately and connected successfully.

It looks like punctuation like " is fine but special characters are the issue.

Thanks Smiley Happy

Re: Special Character Bug

I have been trying to connect my Netflix account but my password includes a symbol in the password that is not present in the selection provided by Roku. What am I supposed to do?

I don't want to go through the trouble of changing such a great password on my multiple other devices.  Advice please?
