Private listening not working

I set up Ultra (I had the Express before but Roku turned off Private Listening for it so I upgraded).  I downloaded the correct Roku mobile app. I paired my earbuds with the mobile app.  I clicked on the headphones for private listening - I can see the headphone icon on the TV, but no sound coming through the earbuds.

Issues using bluetooth headphones via private listening mode on Roku Mobile App

When I connect my bluetooth headphones with my phone and activate private listening via the mobile app I encounter a problem.

Most of the time the audio will skip or cut out I'm wondering if this issue can be fixed?

I use TaoTronics headphones and a samaung galaxy a40. My Roku model number is: 3900EU - Roku Express and serial number: YG00FN720811.

Can anyone help me solve this issue?
