This Premier unit is less than 6 months old. It suddenly stopped responding to the iOS app on phones and tablets. I have reset the device reconnected it to the network, made sure the devices are on the same network, rebooted the router, rebooted the iOS devices, deleted and reinstalled the iOS app, tried the permissive and default settings for app connection. The Roku responds to the Roku remote and streams properly. Software on the Roku is up to date. To be honest I do not know why I bought this as every Roku device I have ever owned has been problematic--this one replaced a Roku that frequently rebooted itself-- and instead of direct support from Roku one is directed to forums like this. If someone has an answer I would be grateful but regardless I will never buy another Roku device again.
Have you recently changed anything in your home network setup or configuration? New modem, new router, changed your wireless security settings or name/password?
All of these things may impact your device's ability to connect to the mobile app.
If not, and you're still experiencing the issue, please share some additional details:
- Specific model of iOS device
- Version of iOS installed
- Version of the Roku mobile app you have installed
- Wireless network configuration: 2.4 or 5GHz, wireless security protocol being used (WPA, WPA-2, etc.)
I'd also recommend contacting your ISP to see if they pushed any software updates or configuration changes to your home networking equipment that may have resulted in this issue, or ask if they can help you modify settings in your router that may allow your Roku device to 'see' your mobile phone and connect once again.
The Roku for no apparent reason stopped responding to the wireless router, which had not had any interruption in service, while every other wireless device connected to the router continued to work flawlessly. Both the Roku and the router showed the same IP address.
Rebooting the router got the Roku to reconnect, confirming yet again how poorly engineered the software, hardware or both is on these devices.
