I would also like to connect my phone to my roku using my data, not my hotspot.   I've ordered a USB C to HDMI cable and wondered what other steps might be needed?????

Can you please specify what you are trying to do? Are you trying to use your mobile device as a remote? Are you trying to cast from your phone to your Roku device?

Danny,   Yes, I have a Galaxy (android) A20s and am trying to play videos from my phone on the TV with a direct cable USB C to HDMI.   I also tried the USB port but a failure in both cases.  The hdmi statement on the TV was no signal, is your device turned on.   We have a hisense TV and also several roku devices for our other TVs.   The reasoning behind this is our wifi is lacking, metered, and download speeds lowered when we reach our limit.
